 List of_Lay Catholic Scientists

There have been numerous Catholic scientists and researchers throughout history, and they have made significant achievements in various fields of science. Some of the most famous have been physicists, astronomers, and biologists. Catholic scientists have often sought to integrate their faith with their scientific work, considering faith and science to be compatible and mutually supportive.

 Examples of famous Catholic scientists:

 - Nicolaus Copernicus: Polish priest and physician who developed the heliocentric worldview (a sun-centered solar system).

 - Galileo Galilei: Italian astronomer, physicist, and engineer who developed new observational techniques.

 - Robert Boyle: Irish naturalist known for his study of the properties of gases.

 - Antoine Lavoisier: French chemist who was the "father" of the invention of chemistry.

 - Pierre Teilhard de Chardin: French Jesuit priest, paleontologist and geologist who worked towards understanding the theory of evolution.

 - Georges Lemaître: Belgian and Jesuit priest who developed the "Big Bang" theory.

 Catholic Church's position on science:

 - The Catholic Church has never opposed science per se, but rather some scientific theories that conflict with religious teaching.

 - The Church has recognized that science can expand people's understanding of the world and God.

 - The Church encourages Christian scientists to do scientific work and seek the truth, but also to remain true to their fundamental religious values.
