Lincoln Continental Mark III 7,5

Kuva
Lincoln Continental Mark III Ford Motor Company Cannon (TV series)  This is roughly the car that Detective Cannon drove in the TV series Cannon (1971 - 1976).  The car is big. The distance from the driver to the front is about three meters. And the engine is a 7.5 l V8.  "Henry M. Leland, who was one of the founders of Cadillac, founded the Lincoln Motor Company in 1917 and began manufacturing aircraft engines. After the end of World War I, the company changed its production line and began manufacturing luxury cars. However, the company ran into financial difficulties and in 1922 the Ford Motor Company bought it. After the deal, Lincoln quickly rose to become the most popular luxury car brand in the United States, along with Cadillac, and has maintained its position to this day."  I followed the TV series quite closely with a friend who was a few years older than me. I remember how much I liked the series, presumably because of the really exotic America...

Crucifix My crucifix on the wall by the bed. Corpus on latin cross. I don't remember where or when I got it. It is balanced and beautiful. :)

Ford Taunus TC2 2.0

Kuva
Ford- Granada Another uncle's car. Red Ford Taunus TC2 2.0. Model year is 1979. I drove this car a bit. It was pretty similar to the Granada: soft and pleasant to drive but the driving characteristics were not enough for racing :D But it's beautiful in its own way, isn't it? I remember many good trips we took by car :)

Letterbox My letterbox. What do you think, will the mail arrive...? :D I just can't help but joke... :D :D :D

New Books 4

Kuva
My Life and Work - Henry Ford Henry Ford  "Henry Ford seems to have been ahead of his time as a business leader with his ideas. He started small, trained as a mechanic against his father's wishes, and set about developing horseless carriages, eventually leading to the automobile and great success. Today, long after Ford's death, the company he left behind is one of the world's leading car manufacturers."  "The book not only focuses on Ford's technological achievements, but also offers insights into his business philosophy and leadership style. Ford shares his thoughts on promoting mass production, using assembly line labor, and offering higher wages to his workers. He advocates for efficient organization and steady growth that benefits both the company and its employees."  The book is currently on the rear window of my Ford on the parcel shelf :)

Ford Taunus TC 2,0 Coupe

Kuva
Ford Taunus TC  My uncle's second Ford. I think it was a 1974 model... He owned it until 1987. I even got to drive it once :)  The car looked great by the standards of the time. The orange color and black roof made it look a bit special. Its driving characteristics were not particularly good, but it was spacious and the passenger comfort was good.

Parking Permit

Kuva
Parking  My personal Ford parking permit for personal maintenance :D  Actually it's an advertisement for my blog :) I think it will attract attention... :D

New Books 3

Kuva
Pope John_Paul II Benedicta Idefelt  In fact, this book is not new anymore. I have had it for twenty years. The book deals with his life and thoughts.  "Mary Craig traveled to Poland to collect material for a biography of the new Pope. She asked: `Where would I best find such material?' She was answered: `Which Wojtyla would you like material about? A priest? A church leader? A poet? A philosopher? An actor? A student? A hero of the resistance movement? A friend of the poor? A prayer worker? An admirer of nature? Wojtyla has been and is all of these!'"  I remember how closely I always followed the Pope's Christmas greeting Urbi & Orbi every Christmas Day on television <3

Ford Sierra 2,0 iS -look

Kuva
Ford Sierra  My third Ford was a Ford Sierra similar to the one in the picture above. It was a 2.0 iS -look. So not a real iS model, but only the visible parts were tuned to look like an iS model. The engine was a 2.0 with a carburetor.  I really liked the car. It was sturdy and spacious and it didn't use as much fuel as you always hear people say. It smelled a little like oil, but it subsided a bit when I changed the rubber on the valve stems. I think the nice smell of oil was quite common in Fords at that time :)  I owned it from 1998 to 2001, if I remember correctly. Before that I had a tuned Nissan Cherry. Then I was without a car for a long time. I remember that maybe the Citroen BX would have been the next car after this Sierra...

New books 2

Kuva
The Imitation of Christ (Thomas à Kempis) The Way (Josemaría Escrivá)  These are great books and gave me at least a little food for thought.  The Imitation of Christ is said to be the most widely read Christian book after the Bible. The author, Thomas Kempis (1380–1471), was a Dutch monk, mystic, and scholastic.   Saint Josemaría Escrivá (Josemaría Julián Mariano Escrivá de Balaguer y Albás) (January 9, 1902, Barbastro, Spain – June 26, 1975, Rome, Italy) was a Spanish Catholic priest and founder of Opus Dei. Escrivá also founded the University of Navarre and served as its Grand Chancellor. His book The Camino, or The Way, was published in 1939 (first translated into Finnish in 1972). The work spread around the world and has been printed in over four million copies.  Especially the phrase "Get used to saying no" is for me... :-/  I recommend these!

Ford Turnier 20 M

Kuva
Ford Taunus (Turnier)  My uncle owned a Turnier like this from the early 1970s to the mid-1980s. I never drove the car myself, but it was big and fancy by the standards of the time. If I remember right it had I6 engine...  My cousin and I often sat in the car and imagined we were in a "road movie" and driving around the (at that time) unimaginably vast world <3

New books 1

Kuva
Bible Documents of the Second Vatican Council  I ordered some books. A Bible with the deuterocanonical books and books with documents of the Second Vatican Council.  I also ordered a gold Ichthys for my mailbox.  I'm looking forward to getting to know books :)

Ford Probe 2,0

Kuva
Ford Probe  I test drove a used Ford Probe like this in 2012 in Seinäjoki. As I recall, it had a 2,0 I4 engine. I don't remember the model year anymore...  I had just made purchases so I hadn't money to buy car.  But there was nothing wrong with the car. And it had just enough American flair :)

Virgin Mary Statue

Kuva
Virgin Mary:  A beautiful statue of the Virgin Mary in the chapel courtyard. The statue is originally from Espoo...

Ford Cortina Mark II 1,2

Kuva
Ford Cortina  The picture shows a car similar to my first Ford. Ford Cortina 1968. I didn't get to drive it much because I was a minor when I owned it. The engine was a 1.2 Kent I4, the same as in Anglia.  The interior was red and there was only one wide front seat. Because of this, the car had a bit of an American car feeling  :D  I remember that for some reason, I really liked the steering wheel and the dashboard with three (or two...?) round gauges.  Before the Cortina, I had a Mazda 1300 and after the Cortina, a Datsun 180 B.  I owned the car in the mid-80s...

Fides magazine 1/2025 and Blessed Hemming

Kuva
Fides Hemming of Turku:  The possible canonization of Blessed Hemming has progressed. It is hoped that the canonization could take place as early as 2026.  So Finland may get another saint of its own  :)

Ford Granada Mark II 2,0 L

Kuva
Ford Granada (Europe)  My second Ford was like this. The color was the same too. Ford Granada Mark II 2.0 L, model 1979.  I lived in Sweden when I bought the Granada. The year was 1988. It was my fourth car. I had previously owned a Mazda 1300 (which I crashed), a Ford Cortina (model 1968) and a Datsun 180 B (model 1974 if I remember correctly). The Datsun was the only one I drove significantly. I traded the Granada for a BMW 318i in 1989.  The car had a pleasantly soft chassis. So it was no rally car! In addition, the straight 2.0 engine of that time in a car that big was quite inefficient. But it was suitable for leisurely cruising.  In any case, it was a great car in the opinion of a poor boy from a rural area cottage. And it was nice to drive it from Sweden to my home village on summer vacation. How proud I was...  <3  :D

Catholic Chapel

Kuva
Catholic Parishes in Finland  The Catholic Diaspora Chapel - St. Joseph's Parish Joensuu Finland. The chapel is beautiful and cozy and is located in a quiet location.  "`This is the sole Church of Christ, which in the Creed we profess to be one, holy, catholic and apostolic.´ These four characteristics, inseparably linked with each other, indicate essential features of the Church and her mission. the Church does not possess them of herself; it is Christ who, through the Holy Spirit, makes his Church one, holy, catholic, and apostolic, and it is he who calls her to realize each of these qualities."   CCC 811

Jokes about Ford...

Kuva
100 jokes about ford  Well, you have to be able to laugh at yourself... But do you have to be able to laugh at your car too?! :( :D :D :D

Jubilee 2025

Kuva
Jubilee 2025  The theme of the Jubilee Year 2025 that has begun is hope. Pope Francis has chosen the title of his Bull declaring the Jubilee Year from the Letter to the Romans 5:5: “Spes non confundit” or “Hope is not meaningless.” The Bull is, as is typical of Pope Francis, full of gentle wisdom of the heart, which in many places beautifully transcends, for example, the culture  lines. It is also pleasantly short and easy to understand. It is good reading for all Christians and, in general, for all “people of good will,” that is, for everyone who strives for goodness and truth in their lives.

Altar. Beauty and Harmony

Kuva
Catholic Church  The Diaspora Chapel, part of the Catholic St. Joseph's Parish, is beautiful and has a calming atmosphere.

Speaking silence in liturgical symbolism...

Kuva
Home altar  My home altar is quite ok, even if I brag about it myself :) I put it together myself little by little from whatever I found at home or got for a reasonable price. A seamstress I know sewed the cloths, so they are the work of a professional.
